Simon is an economist, sound engineer and serial entrepreneur, who has founded several technology and non-technology companies including Leticia Industries Ltd., and Kapenda Media Group Inc., and is Co-founder, Director, and CEO of Groot Group Ltd., which focuses on implementing applied neuroeconomics and system dynamics solutions to efficiently explore, develop, and manage self-sustained ecosystems for the slow-developing and stagnant economies in the world.
As an economist, Simon specializes in industrial and economic development, international trade, growth and productivity theory and their impact on macro performance, and the underlying dynamics of migration flows.
Simon previously worked as Audio Engineer for major TV, film, and music recording studios in Namibia, Europe and the US., where her engineered several world’s and sporting events as well as live TV news and face-to-face interviews with some of the world renown personalities including Former President Bush (41) (USA), Former Prime Minister Tony Blair (Britain), Founding President Sam Nujoma (Namibia), Former President Nelson Mandela (South Africa), and a photo-op with Queen Elizabeth, dining at Buckingham Palace hosted by Queen Elizabeth, working on numerous studio and live concerts with artists such as Seal, El Debarge, Brenda Fassie, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, MC Hammer, R. Kelly, Paul Simon, U2, Lucky Dube, Billy Idol, and more.
In the early 90s, Simon paved a way for a group of then young teens, which included Martin Morrocky (“The Dogg”, Namibia’s multi-award winning musician, producer and actor) and his sisters Diamond, Magano, and brother, Doe, by introducing them to the world of music and taught them how to sing and play music, all from his then 3-bedroom house in Okuryangava, Katutura, Windhoek, Namibia.
Simon earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at The Ohio State University in 2009. He’s currently studying towards a PhD in Economics.
